Thank you to all of you for being so professional, flexible, and hard-working this past week. It was such a busy week that was full of trials and tribulations (already). You all rolled with it and did an amazing job re-organizing all the class lists. There may be some minor changes before classes are set. We appreciate your hard work and dedication. Our students are very fortunate to have such caring staff! We are going to have a wonderful year!
Welcome to Bear Creek: Staffing Change
Please welcome Gurpreet Koonar to Bear Creek. Gurpreet will be teaching the new Grade 6 division and will be moving her classroom from Frost Road on Monday and Tuesday and will start with the students on Wednesday. Gurpreet's classroom will be in the 200 wing, where we had planned to put the French prep room - Rm 211 (the French prep room will be in Eva's old Kindergarten room). There will be a TOC with the Grade 6's until Wednesday.
Please give Gurpreet a warm Bear Creek Welcome!
Emergency Preparations
Clipboards, first aid kits and evacuation maps are to be located at the exit door. The clipboards will be distributed this week. Please ensure you review the procedures for the fire drill on Friday.
Big Buddies - Little Buddies
As we start the new year and are ready to make some plans for the year, we are exploring ways of possibly incorporating collaboration time within the school day. We are looking at the possibility of using Buddy Time for some collaboration time. So, if you have not already done so, please find a buddy class and try to make sure that Primary classes are paired up with Intermediate classes. Once you have a buddy, please let Pat know who your buddy class is.
Communication Survey
It would be great if more people would provide feedback about our Staff Blog and our Success Blog. Please take a couple minutes to quick 8 question survey (mostly multiple choice). Your feedback is important and will impact how the blogs move forward. Your name is not required. We will review the responses and include suggestions/ideas in the blog next week. So, please respond to the survey by Friday, September 13.

Innovative Learning Design Team Interest
We are having a meeting this Wednesday, September 11 (11:45-12:25 in the Library - please bring your lunch). In order to get an idea of how many people are interested in being involved, please add your name to the list, if you are wanting to be involved (by end of day Monday, please). Once you have submitted your name, you will be able to see others who are also interested.
International Dot Day
International Dot Day is on Sunday, September 15, 2013 and is a celebration of each of our individuality, creativity, and genius. Make your mark! Have your students make their mark! Let's celebrate one another!
Many of us are celebrating Dot Day in our classes this week even though Dot Day is on Sunday, September 15. You can see what one school did in the video below (in Videos of the Week). It would be great to get many classes involved in this worthwhile project.
If you are planning on having your students involved, please sign up here so your colleagues know who is involved.

Primary Classroom Lunchtime Monitiors
Primary Teachers: If you are interested in having intermediate students supervise your students while they eat their lunches (from 11:45 - 12:00), please indicate so below (by Monday afternoon, so we can try to get training done and have them in your rooms as soon as possible).
Grade 6/7 Teachers: Please ask your students if there are any students who were classroom monitors last year (student leaders) who would like to do it until the Student Leadership Team is chosen. Please pass those names on to Tia by Monday afternoon.
